Indian IT industry is seeing a resurgence of growth after an alarming dip in hiring last fiscal.
Data collected from the top four IT services companies in the country showed a strong job growth in the industry in the past nine months.
Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Wipro and HCL Technologies together hired over 70,000 people in the first three quarters of this fiscal. This is five times more than the total hiring made in 2017-18, ET reported.
TCS hired 22,931 employees in the last nine months till December 2018, compared with 3,657 employees in 2017-18. The firm has made over 28,000 campus offers this year.
Infosys saw net hiring of 21,398 employees during the said period, while HCL Technologies hired 12,247 employees (net) till December, as against 4,108 people in 2017-18.
Wipro added 12,456 employees on net basis in the first three quarters of this fiscal.
To focus on campus hiring
These four companies, which have combined revenue of nearly $46 billion, had seen tepid job growth last fiscal because of the turmoil caused by rapid adoption of digital technologies by clients, pressure on traditional business, automation, and growing protectionism in their main markets.
These four companies together had hired only 13,972 people in FY 2017-18.
As per the ET report, these firms have also decided to go back to college campuses to hire fresh engineers in thousands.
Meanwhile, Wipro is planning to double its campus hiring this year to meet surge in orders from customers and address shortage seen with high attrition.
