Visakhapatnam gave a lead to smart classrooms in collaboration with Google with a vision to build a smart city
The city in Andhra Pradesh set the ball rolling for taking the education to the next level by building the smart classes. The district administration of the city collaborated with the Google to turn the traditional classrooms into hi-tech ones. The alliance made 31 public schools to actively use Information Communication Technology (ICT) pedagogy to transform education.
Access to varied applications for interactive learning
Smart classrooms had introduced the G Suite for education which is the set of applications including Gmail, docs, drive, calendar, hangouts etc. to help students with collaborative and interactive learning. However, the school labs are connected to Google future classrooms where the students have an access to G Suite through their Chromebooks.
They learn English, Hindi, Science, Maths, History through an Internet-enabled environment. The students can access their school projects and group assignments in real time. Respective teachers and the local school partners have been mapped to the system where they share the educational content with the students. Before that, around 500 teachers were trained by the Google managers to make them use this technology for constructive teaching.
The result which came after training was fruitful as the teachers picked up the technology easily and are now spending more time on teaching rather than investing in checking notebooks. For teachers, it proved to be more productive as it saves the burden of writing the assignments and notes on the blackboard in each class.
Well, the project of future classrooms by Google had been started in four states of the country including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The project focuses on effective learning with positive outcomes in a short span of time.
