Now Photocapacitors Can be Built From Quantum Dots

Researchers at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay have discovered a new phenomenon in semiconductor quantum dots.By shining ultraviolet(UV) radiations on quantum dots immersed in the electrolyte, they noticed an increase in its capacitance, read a part of their research paper published in Journal of Colloid and Interface Science. This effect could be engineered to make photocapacitors. Researchers believe that this increase in capacitance is caused by additional carriers which are generated from excitation due to UV radiations.
