IIT Kharagpur plans a consortium centre to bring renowned institutions of West Bengal together for collaborative academics
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur plans to set up an international centre to offer collaborative courses as well as short-term programmes. The global centre will bring all the renowned institutions of West Bengal together to learn and share their knowledge through these programmes.
Institutions to join the consortium
The proposal of establishing the centre will collaborate institutions like IIT-Kharagpur, Indian Statistical Institute, Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Presidency University, Jadavpur University, Calcutta University and Visva-Bharati. Well, the proposal is still in a queue where the delegates are urging Mamta Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal to approve it and let advancement in education touches the sky.
Recently, IIT-Kharagpur had signed a MoU with AIIMS to develop advanced joint academic programmes for both medical and engineering graduates. Both the institutes had planned to carry out academic research programmes, joint supervision of masters and doctoral students as well as collaborative research projects in their respective fields.

Currently, the engineering temple is busy with the convocation where the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind will mark the event by his presence. At the convocation approximately, 295 doctoral and joint PhD degrees will be awarded.
