IIT Goa is all set to establish the centre of excellence for advanced research to benefit local industries and students
The centre of excellence will be set up at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Goa, in the current academic year 2018-19. The investment planned for this project is somewhat between Rs 10 crore to Rs 20 crores.
Centre to focus research on particles
The main aim of establishing the excellence centre is to adjust the focus of research on particles, colloids and interfaces to meet the research requirements across various sectors of industries including pharmaceutical companies.
This plan is expected to be beneficial both to the local industry and the students at IIT Goa, closing in the industry-academia gap. For which the prestigious institute recruited some new faculty members whose research specialises in the field of particles, colloids and interfaces. Along with that, union human resource development (HRD) ministry is encouraging the setting up of such centres at IITs to focus more on advanced research. Hence, serving the need of both the industries and the students.
