IIT Delhi to Setup Incubators for PhD Degree Holders

IIT Delhi is get set ready to establish a PhD startup incubator to encourage research in advanced computational systems

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi is all fired up to establish a PhD startup incubator likely to be started by this month. It is expected that the target would incubate at least 20 ideas in the first year after its inception.

The incubator is for doctorates

The announcement was made after the prestigious university was granted an ‘Institutions of Eminence’ status by the HRD Ministry enabling it to get full autonomy. Well, this startup incubator targets those people who have finished their doctorate degree and are planning to work on some innovative ideas.

The idea to establish an incubator is to encourage research and innovative work in advanced computational systems like AI, data sciences, blockchain technologies etc.

Applications at the national level will be invited

The incubator will come up at the Sonepat campus of IIT-Delhi and will invite all the applications at the national level. Once the applications are received, there will be a two stage screening process to pick out the best candidates for contributing in technology.

The focus will be on major challenges around deep technologies and will also look forward to realistic business plans that can bring innovation in the field of technology.

Apart from IIT-D, other IITs have also planned and may be implemented the idea of the startups incubators but it is said that Sonipat campus incubator will be different.

Well, IITs always come up with new programs as after this they are planning to introduce various diploma, industry sponsored Masters and PhD programmes. Along with this, joint PhD programmes with top universities of Australia, Taiwan, Canada are in various stages of finalisation.
