Doctoral programme to begin at IIM Visakhapatnam from the next academic year accommodating five candidates
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Visakhapatnam will begin its doctoral programme and fellow programme in management (FPM) from next academic year with five seats. The new generation IIM, set up by the Government of India in September 2015 is all set to begin its interdisciplinary research programme.
Programme to offer
The approval has been granted to the institute by the HRD ministry to begin their FPM programme. They planned to equip five researchers on annual basis. Well, the FPM at the IIMs is globally recognised and is considered as a leading source of interdisciplinary research in all areas of business management.
The FPM students will have the privilege to specialise in one of the fields like finance, accounting, marketing, entrepreneurship, management, organisational behaviour & human resources public policy and strategy.
The fellowship programme in management is a full-time doctoral programme which is somehow equivalent to PhD. The doctoral programmes have been already provided by older IIMs like Bangalore, which is also the mentor institute of the IIM Visakhapatnam.
For the FPM programme, the institute needs well-experienced faculty whom they plan to gain in due course. For that, the institute would take the help of the mentor institute which is IIM Bangalore for some initial years.
The instructional (admission, academic, evaluation etc.) and institutional processes of IIM Visakhapatnam are therefore aligned with those of IIM Bangalore, ensuring the high standards.
The academic activities of the IIM Visakhapatnam are at present run from the Andhra Bank School of Business building of the Andhra University, while accommodation for the students is provided at two private hostels in the city.
The Institute is aiming at expanding its activity profile in scale and scope. It has ambitious plans to offer distinctive academic and research programs to meet the current and emerging opportunities in the industry and the government. The Institute also looks forward to achieving the tangible outcomes in terms of higher recognition, accreditation and ranks at national and international levels.
