Results are better this year as 55,872 students cleared the UGC-NET examination
The examination of UGC national eligibility test (NET) and junior research fellow (JRF) was conducted on July 8 and the results were announced on July 31. This year a higher number of students cleared the NET and JRF as UGC relaxed the norms which led to the improvements of results.
The relaxation given on norms by UGC was proved to be a good luck charm for students as this time 55,872 students cleared the examination. Last year, the number of candidates who cleared UGC NET was 38,000. The candidates qualified for JRF and eligible for assistant professor both were 3929. However, few changes were made in the pattern of the examination where for the first time candidates appeared for two papers rather than three. Out of which paper one contained the general questions and the second-one was subject-specific.
UGC 2018 cut-off for assistant professor and JRF
This time the authority released two type of cutoff marks for UGC NET 2018 which were the qualifying marks and the subject wise cut off marks. The UGC NET qualifying cut off marks have been announced which is 40 per cent for the general category in the paper I & II. For the reserve category, the qualifying marks are 35 per cent in the paper I & II.
As per UGC, this time only top 6 per cent candidates had been selected for assistant professor. For JRF, the authority had selected a certain number of candidates having a high rank in respective subjects and had applied for JRF. A separate merit list had been prepared for UGC JRF qualified candidates after considering their eligibility in terms of age. According to eligibility criteria for JRF, the upper age limit for general category candidates is 28 years. The upper age limit is 33 years for reserved category candidates.
UGC NET counselling 2018
The results had been declared and soon the announcement of UGC NET counselling will be made by the authorities. The counselling will be held for the candidates who had successfully cleared the entrance examination and will be called according to the set schedule.
While participating in UGC NET counselling, candidates have to submit the CBSE NET counselling application and the original certificates. The certificates include are the class 10th and 12th original certificates along with their photocopies, UGC-NET admit and score card, counselling letter, medical documents and passport size photographs. After the submission, the candidates have to pay a processing fee to participate in counselling and is advisable to preserve it for future reference.
