CBSE To Introduce AI, Design Thinking Courses For 11th Grade From 2020-21

In order to keep up with the latest technologies, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said that it is introducing Design Thinking and Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses for students of the 11th grade from the coming academic year.

CBSE also said that this will help students keep pace with the global developments and requirements at the workplace. It will also make students more creative and innovative. It will also introduce a course called ‘Physical Activity Trainer’ to motivate students to stay fit.

Recent tie-up with Intel

These courses will not be core subjects but part of the vocational course work. Schools will be free to choose one or more skill courses. The board is already offering 17 skill subjects at the secondary level and 37 skill Subjects at the Senior Secondary level.CBSE feels that these subjects will be in sync with the suggestions of the draft new education policy.

Recently, CBSE had teamed up with Intel to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) in the education system and empower approximately one lakh students within 2020. Initiatives will include the roll-out of AI curriculum framework for grades VIII, IX and X for 22,000 schools
