Breathable Electronics on Skin for Health Monitoring

Wearable electronics,health monitoring,sensor

Researchers at the University of Tokyo have made a hypoallergenic electronic sensor for health monitoring that can be worn on skin continuously for a week without causing any discomfort. The group developed an electrode constructed from nanoscale meshes containing a water-soluble polymer, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and gold layer materials considered safe and biologically compatible with the body. The device can be applied by spraying water which dissolves the PVA and allows it to stick to the skin. The researchers performed skin patch test for studying irritation and inflammation side effects and got positive results as stated in their research news.
