Artificial Intelligence, Data Science Jobs Trending Upward in India


Companies are offering salary package of up to 22 lakh for a data science job and Rs 1 lakh per month for internship.

Data Scientist holds the fifth position amongst the top emerging jobs in India, according to a recent report by LinkedIn.

About 80 percent of the world’s leading organizations consider data science as an important aspect of their operations, especially those who are keen to strengthen and protect their data.

With the rise in competition among the companies, the demand for data scientists has increased exponentially over the past decade and is poised to grow further. As a result, data science is emerging as a lucrative career option among tech enthusiasts.

Recent Campus Placement Drive Endorses Upward Trend in India 

As many as 75 jobs related to data science, artificial intelligence, business analytics and machine learning were offered to the students of the Aegis School of Data Science in a recent campus recruitment drive. This figure indicates that tech jobs, particularly in the areas of emerging technologies, are trending upward in the country.

As per the institution, the highest package offered for data science job is 22 lakh and the amount for internship is Rs 1 lakh per month. The average salary package offered by the companies is 14. 25 lakh per month.

Besides their tools related knowledge and skills, the companies evaluated the candidates on their deeper understanding of subjects, said Dr. Vinay Kulkarni, Director, Aegis School of Data Science.

Around 27 companies including the likes of Johnson & Johnson, Neilsen, Reliance Retail, RBL Bank, Oppo Finance, Blue Dart, Uniphore, Atos Syntel, Hexaware, Neewee, participated in the recruitment drive.

Bhupesh Daheria, CEO, Aegis School of Data Science, said, “We are glad to see the overwhelming response from the recruiters for hiring the data science talent who not only can use statistic but also various AI techniques like machine learning, deep learning, NLP and computer vision for making sense out of the data for better decision making.”

Creating a talent pool for emerging market

Founded in 2002 with support from Bharti Airtel, Aegis aims to develop cross-functional technology leaders. The institute offers programmes in exponential technologies like Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, deep learning, cyber security, blockchain, etc. It is based in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore.

In 2015, Aegis and IBM collaborated to launch India’s first Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Data Science, Business Analytics and Big Data. Later it also introduced PGP in Cyber Security; PGP in Applied AI; PGP in Blockchain, PGP in Full Stack Development.

Aegis also has collaborated with NVIDA DLI for developing skill in applied AI and deep learning in India.
